About
My name is Sheri Smith Shonk
Storytelling is as ingrained in me as my English, Scottish, and Irish DNA and my writing journey started in Kindergarten when I wrote a story about a turtle and a snail that travel over the hill on an adventure to see what and who lay on the other side. I'm sure my mother has the original tucked away somewhere.
I grew up in North-Central California on a family owned dairy farm first started by my paternal Great-grandparents Sam and Clara. My childhood was as close to idyllic as I can imagine as I bottle -fed calves, swam in the canals and lake, rode my roller skates around and around my grandparent's driveway, and spent hours in their tree in the backyard reading every Nancy Drew book I could get my hands on.
I've been married for nearly thirty-two years to my husband Larry and we have ten amazing children ranging in age from thirty to thirteen. Life is a journey. My journey took me on a long and winding rode, brought me through two cross-country moves, with stops along the way to complete first a nursing degree, and finally earning an English degree that I started in 1987. God is good, y'all. He said write, so now I do.
I desire to write real, flawed characters that experience the grace, and redemption of Jesus Christ in a very real way to bring hope and light to a sometimes hopeless, dark world, with a dash of romance for smiles. I pray my stories touch my readers and bring glory to God, the true author of life.
